Management Accountant – Nairobi

Finerate Plastics Limited (FPL) is a premier manufacturer of household, industrial, and agricultural plastics, offering over 20 different products under various brand names. Our brands have been well-known in the region since 2021.

We are seeking to hire a Management Accountant based at Viken Thirty Industrial Park, Nairobi County.

The Management Accountant will be responsible for managing fixed assets and advising management on the company’s performance regarding costs and profitability, including the preparation of management accounts and reports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial budgets and forecasts by consolidating individual departmental budgets.
  • Analyze budget variances (such as product margins) and advise Senior Management accordingly and promptly.
  • Maintain the Fixed Assets register, ensuring that the fixed assets file is up-to-date with relevant supporting documentation according to established procedures.
  • Assist the CFO in maintaining desired working capital levels.
  • Prepare forecasts and projected future cash flows for the business on a rolling basis.
  • Consolidate costs and revenues, extracting management information for decision-making.
  • Analyze financial and operational information to identify trends and opportunities for development.
  • Ensure adept understanding of tax accounting, including VAT, excise tax, withholding tax, import, and export taxes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal control procedures at all times and report any deviations to the CFO immediately.
  • Oversee stock-taking exercises (including spares) and ensure accurate stock records (volume, quantity, and weight) at all times; investigate and report any variances promptly.
  • Issue monthly and yearly stock-taking instructions.
  • Ensure physical verification of goods returned notes in accordance with established procedures before issuing credit notes to confirm validity and reasons for return.
  • Conduct or oversee surprise checks on loaded delivery vehicles weekly to ensure physical goods tally with sales documentation.
  • Ensure accurate costing of raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and spares—critical for operations.
  • Prepare monthly management reports within set deadlines.
  • Conduct financial analyses as required.
  • Provide financial information to senior management, including budget reports and performance of cost centers.
  • Evaluate non-financial indicators (such as stock turnover, quick ratio, debtor ratios, cash ratios, profitability ratios) and report on their impact on business performance or profitability.
  • Train staff reporting to you and propose training programs to enhance their skills in delivering high-level services to the company.
  • Carry out quarterly performance reviews.
  • Manage payroll and statutory returns effectively.
  • Work through incomplete records and reconstruct financial statements as needed.
  • Provide leadership to ensure maximum productivity and accuracy at all times.

Qualifications:

  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
  • An MSc/MA is an added advantage.
  • CPA (K), ACCA, or other relevant qualifications.
  • At least 6 years of experience, including 2 years at a managerial level.
  • Solid knowledge of management accounting, analysis, and forecasting.
